August 2019 Overnight

What a great weekend for our Troop Overnight. We worked on our troops patrol equipment and dutch oven cooking.

We started our overnight by everyone meeting and raising the America flag. Once this was done we had a few announcements by our Asst. Sr. Patrol Leader Quincy and then it was off to setting up our campsites and inventorying our patrol equipment. Once this was done each patrol was challenged to bake a cake in a dutch oven.

After we were finished with the cake baking it was time to cook our dinner and oh what great dinners we prepared. One of the patrols cooked pork chops, potatoes and vegetables. Another patrol cook lasagna and our other patrols prepared pizza casserole. Everything looked great and tasted great.

It was great working as a patrol to prepare and cook our meals.

After dinner the troop had a campfire where each of our patrols had a skit and song with our MC being our Senior Patrol Leader Clayton. It was a great time for troop fellowship. At the end of the campfire we found out which patrol got 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th Place in the Cake Baking contest. When camp fire was over we had a little free time before it was time to go to bed.

We were woke up by our Senior Patrol Leader and Scoutmaster asking us to get up roll up your stuff and let’s get our tents down to try and beat the rain storm. Everyone did a great job and yes we beat the rain storm.

Once we got our tents down we were once again challenge to prepare our breakfast. One patrol cooked scramble eggs and ham. The other patrols cooked Denver omelet with all the fixings and Mountain Man breakfast with bacon, onions, hash browns and eggs. Breakfast turned out great!!!!!

Once breakfast clean-up was done. The scouts put together a church service to follow the twelfth part of the Scout Law a scout is reverent.

We then took down the remaining equipment, retired the colors and picked up trash in the area to allow the troop to leave the area better than we found it. Then everyone went one.

Can’t wait for our next overnight.
